The VIP Scanning Academy is led by Catherine Stowell. She has been teaching canine and feline pregnancy scanning to veterinarians, vet nurses and reputable breeders for over 15 years, and is the author of the best-selling book, Ultrasound for Canine Pregnancy Scanning.
Each module has been professionally filmed from several camera angles, so that you feel like you are present in the room. Teaching is heavily research-based; whatever your academic or professional background, we know how to help you learn.
No ultrasound machine? No problem! While having one by the start of the course is recommended, you don’t need to own one to enrol. If you haven’t purchased a machine yet, consult with us first to ensure you make the best choice.

ULTRASOUND FOR GOAT & SHEEP PREGNANCY SCANNING

Self-paced online course, full of live video footage and demonstrations, designed for goat and sheep breeders or veterinarians just getting started with ultrasound.
Includes basic ultrasound physics, types of reflectors, goat scanning technique, quick and easy tips for image optimisation, developmental stages, performing measurements and calculating gestational age, attenuation, artifacts, and ultrasound safety and biohazards. Each module includes text, diagrams, ultrasound images, tutorial videos and quizzes to test your knowledge and understanding as you go along.
This course will also give you lifelong access to support and mentorship from sonographer Catherine Stowell.

HANDS-ON TRAINING IN CANINE & FELINE PREGNANCY SCANNING
We recommend the VIP Scanning Academy for anyone wanting to learn to scan dogs or cats for pregnancy, but if online learning isn’t your thing, we would love to welcome you to our ultrasound lab in Bromley, Southeast London. We will spend 3 hours together going through the most important controls on an ultrasound machine, the female reproductive anatomy, the appearance of pregnancy on ultrasound at various stages, and confirming foetal viability. This course will leave you confident in recognising pregnancy in dogs, confirming viability, and spotting when something is wrong and in need of veterinary referral.
You will get to scan on a range of machines. If you do not already have a machine, we strongly suggest waiting until your training course, or contacting us for advice beforehand.
