Meet Your Instructor – Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards is an established expert in small animal veterinary ultrasound at first opinion level. With a wealth of experience as a peripatetic veterinary ultrasonographer, Camilla travels throughout East Anglia, assisting practices with their ultrasound needs and sharing her knowledge through both in-person training and online platforms.

A qualified vet since 2006, Camilla’s journey has taken her through emergency and critical care, where she honed her ultrasound skills during night shifts, to completing her CertAVP in 2018. After time spent observing the ultrasound department at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, she launched her own business in 2018, dedicated to empowering small animal vets with practical ultrasound training.

She has also developed a highly regarded suite of online ultrasound courses and leads a thriving online community of veterinary professionals committed to building confidence with ultrasound.

Access to Camilla’s Most Popular Online Course

As part of this course package, participants will receive access prior to the training day to Camilla’s flagship online programme:
Veterinary Ultrasound: The Basics.

This structured, self-paced online course is designed specifically for first-opinion vets who want to feel more confident using ultrasound in daily practice. From developing a systematic scanning approach to learning the difference between normal and abnormal findings, this course ensures you’re well-prepared before stepping into the lab. You’ll also benefit from practical insights into using your own machine, bite-sized lessons for busy schedules, and ongoing live Q&A sessions for real-world support.

By reviewing the online content ahead of the in-person course, you’ll arrive ready to make the most of the hands-on learning.

What You’ll Learn on the Day

This one-day intensive training will take place in our dedicated ultrasound lab in Bromley and includes live scanning sessions on dogs and cats. Ideal for vets looking to build real-world scanning skills, the course covers:

  • Ultrasound fundamentals – understanding how to optimise your images
  • Systematic scanning protocols – ensuring consistency and confidence
  • Identification of key abdominal organs – including the liver, spleen, biliary tree, and gastrointestinal tract
  • Assessment of fluids, gas, and minerals – what they mean and how to find them
  • Image interpretation in context – linking ultrasound findings to clinical cases

By the end of the day, you’ll have a stronger grasp of abdominal ultrasound, more confidence with your scanning technique, and a clearer understanding of how to integrate ultrasonography into everyday practice.
