This course covers ultrasonography fundamentals in bovine reproduction, including anatomy, image interpretation, and hands-on practice. Participants learn how to interpret ultrasound images of bovine reproductive structures such as the uterus, ovaries, pregnancies, and fetal anomalies. They also master the functionality of ultrasound machines and settings to improve image quality. The course includes 5 hours of theory and 7 hours of hands-on practice, ensuring attendees are proficient in dairy cow reproductive examinations using ultrasound. Key learning objectives include developing comprehensive knowledge of ultrasound principles, enhancing image interpretation skills, and mastering gynecological examination techniques for dairy cattle reproductive health.

Dairy Cattle Reproductive Ultrasound Course Agenda

Duration: 2 days, 9 AM – 4 PM

The course focuses on teaching basic skills and techniques of bovine reproductive ultrasound and image interpretation

Day One:

Morning Session (9 AM – 12:30 PM)

Theory session covering basics/physics of ultrasonography, ultrasound equipment, reproductive system anatomy, and identifying uterine conditions

Practical session with hands-on demonstrations of gynecological examinations on live heifers/cows

Afternoon Session (1 PM – 4 PM)

Theory session on identifying pregnancies at different gestational stages

Practical session with hands-on demonstrations of gynecological examinations on live cows with pregnancies at various stages

Day Two:

Morning Session (9 AM – 12:30 PM)

Theory session on ovarian structure and image interpretation of ultrasound images/videos

Practical session with hands-on demonstrations of gynecological examinations on live cows focusing on ovarian conditions

Afternoon Session (1 PM – 4 PM)

Theory session on identifying twins, anomalies, and fetal demise

Practical session with hands-on demonstrations of gynecological examinations on live cows discussing various cases

Conclusion:

Review of topics covered, Q&A session, quiz, and graduation picture
