In September of last year (2022), we announced to our members that we had secured access to distributor pricing on Bellylabs pregnancy test kits. These are the first pregnancy test kits in the world that do not require an invasive blood draw.
They present an opportunity for ethical breeding and scanning businesses to offer this product to their clients directly – rather than it fall into the hands of companies who would seek to use it in ways that would undermine our work.
Our mission at the AUA is to promote and advocate for high quality, safe veterinary ultrasound scanning. Our Canadian partners gave our co-founder the ‘heads up’ on this product last year, which enabled her to secure exclusive UK distribution rights and pass these benefits directly onto AUA members – before the kits fell into the hands of another company, who would likely not have the same lifelong investment in the future of ultrasound.
All of those involved with the Animal Ultrasound Association are dedicated to ultrasound. Outside of our work with the AUA, we’re sonographers, ultrasound researchers, and ultrasound business owners. We have as much (if not more) invested in ultrasound as other members of the association.
A pregnancy test will never replace an ultrasound scan, and the AUA will never stop having your best interests at heart.
