This beautiful Cocker Spaniel is carrying her puppies very high, up by her liver. At first, it looked like there was only one pup, but after she’d moved around a bit we were able to see a definite two – and probably three. Unusually, they all seemed to be stacked in front of one another: the perfect example of why number counting with ultrasound when performing a dog pregnancy scan is so tricky!...

After whelping scan where a retained puppy was suspected, unfortunately it was sleeping and the bitch had to have a C section for it to be removed....

This was a routine after whelping scan.   I could clearly see at least two retained placentas, the bitch was referred to the breeders vet who administered Oxytocin.   Five hours later she expelled a substantial amount of green and black membrane.   The bitch was bought back to me again the next morning to double check she was empty, but I could still see some retained membrane, and the bitch felt extremely hot and looked very very poorly.   I advised the owner she should be taken to the vet asap.   Her temperature was 42,......

Progress canine pregnancy scan near Bromley, showing that this little puppy is very healthy – nice strong heartbeat and plenty of movement. We turned on Colour Doppler for a couple of seconds at the end just to see the blood flow from the heart and along the abdominal aorta....
